WHY

SIL, Safely In LUV’ grew out of today’s dire need for young people to understand what a healthy relationship looks like, so they can recognize if they are being abused, emotionally, mentally or physically.

Unique to this program is the overarching goal to create a ‘safe space’ where young people can freely share and deal with complex and sensitive issues that affect them in their relationships and in their everyday lives.

Our program not only provides weekly lessons for the participants, but it also includes a complete training program for the facilitators who will be working with young people and guiding them.

TESTIMONIALS

“Victoria’s six week Safely In Luv program was absolutely vital for our Year 10 students in giving them the skills needed to face life and academic changes. Victoria’s careful instruction and program boosted their self-esteem and academic performance. The feedback from the students was incredibly positive and they recognize the benefits that she has given them.”

Dear Victoria
We have had the pleasure of hosting the Safety in Luv prevention program in our school with a group of year 9 girls. Six hours over three weeks, students were able to explore what makes a good relationship, what our personal boundaries are and how we let others know of these boundaries. Students felt safe and were able to explore some sensitive topics with their peers.

Students enjoyed these informative sessions and took part in discussions. Students learned about some of the early signs of unhealthy relationships, they also had time to reflect on their own views about respect, self-esteem, how to build resilience. One of the most important sections was on consent, students learned and discussed how we give and ask for consent.

An important topic for young people and I would recommend these workshops to other groups.

'Victoria Griffith, quickly built up a rapport with the girls who participated in the “Safely In Luv” SRE Program. She was able to discuss very challenging topics with them having earned their trust in a short space of time.

The girls reported enjoying the program and finding real value in being able to discuss difficult topics. They thought about aspects of themselves which they hadn't considered previously and so were empowered in raising their own levels of self-awareness.

The school found that the girls, who weren't necessarily from the same friendship groups, really bonded throughout the programme and this was an additional benefit to an already enriching experience.'
